Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar stated in a statement issued at the conclusion of the visit of Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and his accompanying delegation that the visit was fruitful and reflected the fraternal ties between the two countries.
Al-Shaar stated, “During the visit, many important issues were discussed, reflecting the fraternal ties between the two countries. He emphasized that it will be the beginning of strong economic cooperation and partnership between us.”
He said, “Today, we are writing together a new chapter in history, written by our combined efforts.”
For his part, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat expressed his country’s desire to negotiate a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Syria. This came in a statement to reporters on Thursday, prior to his return. and the accompanying delegation from a visit to Damascus.
He said: “We expressed Türkiye’s desire to negotiate On a comprehensive economic partnership agreement with Syria in the new phase, and our readiness for these negotiations.”
Bulat stated that Syrian government officials expressed their desire to cooperate with Turkey in all fields, from increasing trade and joint investments, improving infrastructure and energy, to transportation, land and sea routes.
The “Economy” website quoted Rawad Ramadan, a member of the Economic Relations Board at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as saying: “Syria and Turkey are about to sign 12 cooperation agreements during the visit of the Turkish delegation headed by Trade Minister Omar Bulat to Damascus,” stressing the support of the two countries’ presidencies for these agreements.
In a statement to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, the official for planning and international cooperation at the Syrian Ministry of Finance, Muhammad Al-Atassi revealed an intention to reactivate more than eight old agreements, including strategic partnerships, double taxation, joint banks, and capital trading platforms, in addition to activating Turkish industrial sectors within Syria.
