The US Embassy in Cairo published a post on its official Facebook account flirting with Egyptians by sharing photos of Egypt from space, captioned, “Egypt is truly illuminated by its people.”
The US Embassy attached dazzling photos of Cairo at night taken by the International Space Station, showing the lights of the Egyptian capital and the Nile River as a bright line through the city.
The US Embassy stated in its post that these “beautiful” photos, taken by American astronauts from the US Space Station, not only show the lights of Cairo at night, but also the city’s growth and development.
The embassy added The American embassy said, “You can see the Nile River drawn in front of you as a line of light, and notice how Cairo is growing and expanding with new areas like New Cairo and 6th of October City.”
The embassy explained in its post that this image “is not just beautiful; it serves as a scientific tool that helps scientists monitor and explain how cities expand and consume energy, and how infrastructure can be improved.”
The embassy concluded, “When we look from space, we discover that distances are shrinking and our opportunities for cooperation are growing, especially when our countries work together for the development of all of us.”
The U.S. Embassy’s post received significant interaction from Egyptians, with many users expressing their pride in Cairo’s beauty and development, with comments such as “Cairo is truly the jewel of the Nile,” while others viewed the post as a smart diplomatic attempt to strengthen bilateral relations.
